For Students

Speaking well, like writing well, is an intellectual process and an indispensable skill that can be learned.  No student should graduate without having the opportunity and resources to master both.

The Speaking Fellows are just that resource – here, now, free, and trained to support you at any point in your growth as a public speaker so that you can build on these skills for all four years at Barnard.

To get started:

> Sign up for a one-on-one or group workshop

> Find out how workshops in your “attached” course work

> Review rescheduling/lateness/no-show policies

> Read more about our philosophy

NEW! Debate Barnard's Future on April 13th: Speaking Fellows will host a public, one-day debate tournament on April 13th from 8:00 -10:00 PM in the Ella Weed Room. The proposition will be: Barnard's next president should have experience in the corporate world. Sign-up here to participate! Once you sign-up, you will work with a team of ~3 other students to craft an argument agreeing or disagreeing with this proposition. You will have the chance to work with Speaking Fellows before the event, so no debate experience is necessary.

You may also sign up for the Debate Bootcamp this Sunday from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM on our online scheduler. In this three-hour, intensive session, you can hone your speaking and argumentation skills to prepare for the debate event on April 13th, or for any other future debate experiences.
