Student Presentations in the Classroom: Why, When and How to Implement Individual Speaking Assignments

How do we organize and implement speaking assignments in the classroom? In this workshop, faculty will have the opportunity to work with various models, tools and rubrics for constructing class assignments. We will also discuss methods for evaluating student presentation work and for providing feedback. The workshop will be led by Daniela Kempf, Manager of the Speaking Program and Associate in Education, and is sponsored by the Writing and Speaking Program as part of a "Speaking Across the Curriculum" initiative.

How do we ensure inclusive, exciting and illuminating classroom discussions? This workshop offers tools and techniques for organizing and facilitating student discussions. We will examine various activities and exercises through demonstrations and examples, and discuss guidelines and rubrics that promote good discussions.
